The Air Force will have a total of 186 F-22s once the program of record to build 187 Raptors is complete after factoring the loss of one F-22 that crashed in 2004 that is considered part of the program of record, the Air Force said, May 4, 2009. The F-22 that crashed in March 2009 was a test aircraft not considered part of the program of record. Here, an F-22 from the 90th Fighter Squadron at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, flies over Guam for a training mission, April 15, 2009.
